Hiroshima City and Miyajima (宫岛) - Part 1

Hiroshima City is the largest city in Chugoku region of Japan, It was rebuit after World War II and proclaimed as City of Peace by Japan Parliament in 1949.

The A-Bomb Dome

Here is the Memorial Peace Park (平和纪念公园) situated in the Hiroshima City, a tourist travel spot nowadays. This dome destroyed by the world first atomic bomb ever to be used in the history of humankind on August 6, 1945.

The explosion by a single bomb claimed the live of almost 200,000 people and the city vicinity of 2km turned into ashes. Some reinforcement work has been done to preserve the ruins to make it a lesson for the humankind. ~ PEACE ~

Our next station was Miyajima (宫岛), we took a local train to reach there.

And, then we switched to ferry , it costs 170 yen per way to Miyajima.

Miyajima is famous of 'kaki' - oyster.

As well as its “torii” - itsukushima shrine - A large wooden red big gate, which at high tide seems to float on top of the water. If you are coming from Hiroshima the Hiroshima tourist information office will be able to tell you the time of the high tide, which is the best time to view the torii.

Miyajima is considered one of the 3 most scenic places in Japan. Another two are Amanohashidate , which is located in Kyoto prefecture and Matsushima.

And, you can note that there are many deer walking around and they might follow you if you have food in your hand.

It's cherry blossom now, and it's really really beautiful !!
To be continued ...
